Cape Fear High School is a public secondary school in the northeast region of Cumberland County, North Carolina. Cape Fear High School was founded in 1969. It is home of the Agriculture Academy as well as the Science Academy. As of 2005, about 1500 students were enrolled in grades 9-12. Cape Fear High is located in Vander, North Carolina, though the school has a Fayetteville address. Located near the Cape Fear river, it is the rural school of the county, and it serves as the home school for students from surrounding communities such as Stedman, Beaver Dam, Vander, Eastover, Wade and Godwin. Cape Fear was listed among the best high schools in America by U.S. News & World Report for three consecutive years: 2008-2010.

The Natural Science Academy is a program located at Cape Fear that acknowledges students for completing 7 or more sciences through out their high school career while maintaining a B average in all 7+ sciences

Athletics
Cape Fear High School is the home of the Colts. Navy blue and gold are their school colors. The school has many athletic teams that are often competitive in the county, district, and state. Some of the sports teams at Cape Fear High include, Football, Cheerleading, Men's and Women's Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Men and Women's Golf, Volleyball, Track & Field, Cross Country, Wrestling, Bowling, Swimming, Men's and Women's Tennis, Men's and Women's Soccer and several Junior Varsity sports. The Colts have played in state championships in Softball and in Football, where they placed runner up respectively. In the 2016 Football season, the colts finished the season 15-1 after a tough loss against Dudley High School at North Carolina State University Carter-Finley Stadium.
